Job Summary

The HVAC Technician is responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems. The role ensures HVAC equipment operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with company standards and applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems, including split units, package units, VRF/VRV systems, chillers, AHUs, FCUs, ventilation systems, and exhaust systems.

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.

Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant-related faults and carry out repairs.

Inspect compressors, condensers, evaporators, fans, motors, thermostats, and control systems.

Check refrigerant levels, identify leaks, recover and recharge refrigerants in accordance with environmental regulations.

Clean and replace filters, coils, ducts, and other HVAC components to ensure optimal performance.

Read and interpret HVAC drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.

Test HVAC systems to verify proper operation and energy efficiency.

Maintain maintenance records and report equipment conditions and spare parts requirements.

Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and refrigerant handling regulations.

Respond promptly to emergency HVAC breakdowns and restore system functionality.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Technical diploma or vocational certification in HVAC, Refrigeration, or Mechanical Technology.

Minimum 2–5 years of experience in HVAC installation and maintenance.

Certification in refrigerant handling (where applicable) is preferred.

GCC experience is an added advantage.

Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems.

Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control system faults.

Familiarity with HVAC controls, thermostats, and Building Management Systems (BMS) is an advantage.

Ability to read and interpret HVAC drawings and wiring diagrams.

Good understanding of preventive maintenance practices.

Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions

Work may be performed indoors and outdoors in commercial, industrial, or residential facilities.

May involve working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions.

Willingness to work shifts, overtime, weekends, and emergency call-outs when required.

Physical Requirements

Physically fit and able to lift HVAC equipment and materials.

Ability to stand, bend, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.

Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Capable of working safely in hot, cold, and noisy environments.
