Job Summary

The Electrical Technician is responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in residential, commercial, industrial, or facility environments. The role ensures electrical installations and maintenance activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable electrical codes and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, circuits, panels, switchgear, and distribution systems.

Troubleshoot and rectify electrical faults in lighting, power outlets, motors, control panels, and electrical equipment.

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.

Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical manuals.

Install and maintain lighting fixtures, circuit breakers, switches, sockets, and control devices.

Test electrical systems using appropriate measuring and diagnostic instruments.

Replace defective electrical components, cables, relays, contactors, and protective devices.

Assist in installation, commissioning, and testing of new electrical equipment.

Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and company HSE policies.

Maintain maintenance records and report equipment status and material requirements.

Respond promptly to emergency electrical breakdowns and restore operations.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Technical diploma or vocational certification in Electrical Technology/Electrical Engineering.

Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in electrical installation and maintenance.

GCC experience is an added advantage.

Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of electrical systems, components, and troubleshooting techniques.

Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.

Familiarity with low-voltage electrical systems, motors, control circuits, and distribution boards.

Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures.

Good problem-solving and analytical skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Good communication and time management skills.

Digital multimeter

Clamp meter

Insulation resistance tester (Megger)

Voltage tester

Cable crimping and stripping tools

Electric drill and hand tools

Screwdrivers, pliers, and spanners

Electrical testing and diagnostic equipment

Working Conditions

Work may be performed indoors and outdoors in commercial, industrial, or residential facilities.

May require working at heights, in confined spaces, and during emergency call-outs.

Willingness to work shifts, overtime, weekends, or on-call when required.

Physical Requirements

Physically fit and able to stand, climb ladders, bend, and lift equipment and materials.

Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Ability to distinguish wire colors and safely perform electrical tasks.

Capable of working in varying environmental and site conditions.
